Accidentally Deleted Profile Group in Mimecast

We’ve seen this happen occasionally and it can be devastating when large profile groups are accidentally deleted. This article applies to all profile groups but we’ve most often seen accidental deletion of permit sender and block senders in Mimecast. At this time Mimecast does not have way to recover profile groups so it is best practice to export csv of each important group at some regular interval.

If you are reading this it’s probably too late for best practice. Now it’s time to recover the group.

The way to do this is by utilizing the audit logs. Here are the steps:

1.       Go to account > Audit logs

2.       Filter via Profile Group Logs

3.       In the search section toggle to details and type the name of the profile group in question

4.       Toggle the time frame as far back as needed to recover the group

You should now see the results which show all changes that have occurred to the profile group including the added and deleted users and domains. You can now export this as a csv and begin parsing data to build your list back.

If you are in need of immediate assistance please contact us and we can most likely help you recover your profile group very quickly.
