How to export mail from the Mimecast Archive, PST or EML

For first time users exporting mail from your Mimecast archive can seem rather confusing but here is a concise guide. The tricky thing is you cannot export PST or EML from the “Archive Search.”

You must go to the “Saved Searches” page, create a folder in the hierarchy, name it, and execute your search within that folder. Once you achieve the correct search you must save and exit the page. Next you move to the “Exports and Updates” page and create a “New Search" Export,” choose your saved search and begin the export.

This is not fast and can take a long time depending on how large the search is. You will be emailed when it’s completed.

Each export can only be up to 10GB and is always broken into 2GB batches, which you will see represented in the exports page. This method is only practical at smaller scale. If you have need for a large scale export it is  best to work with Mimecast or delegate this to us.
